A Shingon sect Chizan sect temple located in Sakamoto, Hirosaki City, Aomori Prefecture. The name of the mountain is Gokokuyama. The name of the temple is Kannon-in. The magnitude is 15th magnitude. It is the first of the 33 Tsugaru Kannon sacred sites, and is one of the five Tsugaru Shingon temples, along with Saisho-in, Hyakusawa-ji (now Gumon-ji), Hashigumo-ji, and Kokujo-ji. The principal image is the Kannon, which is said to have been created by Ennin (Jikaku Daishi). It is the former Saishoin temple. He is also famous for his Ohshirako (Daishirako) and ghost paintings that are said to have been created by Okyo Maruyama.

It is said that Kizan-an was built around 1600 in Meya’s Sakuraba Village (present-day Sakuraba District, Hirosaki City). When the Tsugaru 33 Kannon Pilgrimage began, the temples were concentrated in the castle town, and Yōko-in Temple was also popular as the fifth temple, but it was retired due to the reorganization of the ranking. However, the Senju Kannon Bodhisattva statue that was in Kiyomizu Kannon-do (2nd and 2nd Fudasho) is still carefully preserved in accordance with the Meiji Edict to Separate Shinto and Buddhism and the Edict to Abolish Buddhism.

It began in 731 when Gyoki Bosatsu prayed for the safety and health of local residents and carved a statue of the Senju Kannon, which was enshrined in a rock cave on Mt. Otakamoriyama. At that time, the white peony-like flowers bloomed on an old pine tree behind him, so it was called “Hanasakimatsu no Kannon-sama.” It is also called “Kiyomizu Kannon” because you can see the clear stream of the river. One generation of childhood.

Tsugaru Kobo Daishi Sacred Site No. 9, Tsugaru Seven Lucky God Sacred Site Daikokuten Hoansho, and also the first generation of the Year of the Ox and the Year of the Tiger. It is said to have been founded in 1629 by Lord Nobumaki, the second feudal lord of Tsugaru. Wishing for peace in the family and stability in the territory, he recruited Kokuzo Bosatsu and performed the training called Gumonjiho of the Shingon sect. Although it was once destroyed by fire, it was rebuilt in the Meiji period and continues to this day.

ABOUT YOKOYAMA SHIINA

Continuing to disseminate as an embodiment of the Itako culture. Four generations ago, having an Itako ancestor, I inherited the ability from a young age but couldn’t control it, so I closed off the ability during my student days. However, after a fateful encounter at the headquarters of Itako, Kudoji Temple, my abilities resumed blooming after 15 years. I continue to dedicate myself to training as the only successor candidate in Japan for the traditional Itako therapy, “garlic moxibustion”. I engage in various activities such as operating volunteer teams and community-based renewable energy projects to repay the shrines and temples that fulfilled my dreams and changed my life, as well as to honor the people and ancestors who have preserved traditions in the region and to express gratitude to the deities.
