In the Edo period, the temple that was the predecessor of Kannon-do was located on top of a mountain and was used as a training ground. A monk named Kaijun visited this place when he was on a national pilgrimage to draw 3,300 Kannon statues, and was saddened by the dilapidated Kannon hall and vowed to restore it. After a short period of time due to going to war on the way, he finally succeeded in rebuilding the temple together with the Miyakoshi family and other local residents who had worked hard to carry on Kaijun’s will.
